Digidesign Audio Drivers v7.0 for Pro Tools|HD and Pro Tools LE Systems on Windows XP

Combined standalone installer of Digidesign ASIO Driver and Digidesign WaveDriver for Digidesign hardware without Pro Tools software installed.

Owners of Pro Tools HD 7 or Pro Tools LE 7 software can install the Digidesign ASIO Driver and Digidesign WaveDriver as an option during Pro Tools installation, using the box in the installer dialogue that is already checked by default. There is no need for Pro Tools 7 users to download the Standalone Digidesign Audio Drivers v7.0.

The Digidesign WaveDriver 6.1.1 is a two-channel, multimedia sound driver that allows third-party audio applications to play back through channels 1-2 of any Pro Tools LE system on Windows XP.

The Digidesign WaveDriver is not required to use Pro Tools LE, so it is not installed by the Pro Tools LE 6.1.1 updater.

Note: Owners of Pro Tools TDM or LE software version 6.4, 6.7 or 6.9 can install the correct version of WaveDriver for their system as an option during Pro Tools installation, using the box in the installer dialogue that is already checked by default. If you have Pro Tools 6.4 or higher software, you should NOT install WaveDriver 6.1.1. You may still want to download the Digi MME Helper on the page below.

Compatibility

The Digidesign WaveDriver 6.1.1 can be used on Digidesign-qualified Windows XP systems with Pro Tools LE 6.1.1 installed, or it can be used as a stand-alone driver on systems that do not have Pro Tools installed.

If Pro Tools is installed, Pro Tools LE 6.1.1 is required. This version will not work with Pro Tools LE 6.1 or older installed.

The Digidesign WaveDriver v6.1.1 can also be installed as standalone if no version of Pro Tools is installed.

Supported Digidesign hardware on Windows XP Professional or Home with Pro Tools LE 6.1.1 installed:

• Digi 002
• Digi 002 Rack
• Digi 001
• Mbox
• AudioMedia III

The following programs have been tested with the Digidesign WaveDriver 6.1.1:

• Microsoft Media Player 8.x and 9
• Musicmatch Jukebox 8.0
• Nullsoft Winamp 2.91 and 3.0
• Propellerhead Rebirth 2.01
• Sonic Foundry CD Architect 5.0
• Sonic Foundry Sound Forge 4.x and 6.0

Note: The Digidesign WaveDriver does not support Avid Xpress DV or certain other DirectSound applications that require advanced DirectSound capabilities.

Note: The Digidesign WaveDriver 6.1.1 and the Digidesign ASIO Driver 6.1.1 can both be installed on the same system (5.3 versions could not coexist)

Pro Tools TDM Systems

• If you have Pro Tools TDM software installed, you can NOT use the 6.1.1 Wavedriver
• Owners of TDM hardware with Pro Tools TDM software version 6.1 or 6.2 will need to use the beta version of the WaveDriver available on their Pro Tools 6.1 or 6.2 TDM software CD.
• Owners of Pro Tools TDM or LE software version 6.4, 6.7 or 6.9 can install the WaveDriver as an option during Pro Tools installation, using the box in the installer dialogue that is already checked by default.
• Owners of TDM hardware that do not have Pro Tools software installed can use the 6.1.1 WaveDriver

for Digidesign WaveDriver version 6.1.1 and higher

Digi MME Helper is a free utility from Rail Jon Rogut Software for use with the Digidesign WaveDriver 6.1.1 and Digidesign hardware. Digi MME Helper also works with the WaveDriver included with the Pro Tools TDM and LE 6.4 and higher installers.

This program allows you to add or remove programs such as Internet Explorer, iTunes, etc. from an entry in the Registry which is like an opt-in list which tells the WaveDriver 6.1.1 which applications to support.

To Use:

1. Run the Digi MME Helper.exe
2. Click on the 'Add...' button
3. Browse to the applications that you would like to be supported by WaveDriver 6.1.1 and press Open
4. Press the Update button, which will update the Registry

Digi MME Helper version 1.2 adds support drag and drop functionality - users can simply drag programs and shortcuts from the start menu, the desktop and explorer and drop them in the list then press update.

The Digidesign WaveDriver v5.3.3 is a two-channel, multimedia sound driver that allows third-party audio applications to record and play back through channels 1-2 of Mbox on Windows XP.

The Digidesign WaveDriver is not required to use Pro Tools LE, so it is not installed by Pro Tools LE 5.3.3. However, it is necessary to install Pro Tools LE v5.3.3 and your Digidesign hardware before installing the Digidesign WaveDriver v5.3.3 in order to use the WaveDriver with third-party applications.

Note: The Digidesign WaveDriver does not support Avid Xpress DV or certain other DirectSound applications that require advanced DirectSound capabilities.

Note: Digidesign WaveDriver 5.3.3 and ASIO Driver cannot co-exist on the same system:

WaveDriver 5.3.3 should not be installed on systems which have the Digidesign ASIO Driver. (not a problem with version 6.1.1 of both)

• Pro Tools|24 MIX on Windows XP & 2000
• Pro Tools|24 on Windows XP & 2000
• Digi 001 on Windows XP
• ToolBox & AudioMedia III on Windows XP

This Digidesign WaveDriver is not supported on Pro Tools|HD systems. For Mbox systems with Pro Tools LE 5.3.3, download WaveDriver v5.3.3 for Mbox on Windows XP, listed above.

The Digidesign WaveDriver is not required to use Pro Tools or Pro Tools LE, so it is not installed by Pro Tools 5.3.1. However, it is necessary to install Pro Tools v5.3.1 and your Digidesign hardware before installing the Digidesign WaveDriver v5.3.1 in order to use the WaveDriver with third-party applications. WaveDriver should not be installed on systems which have the Digidesign ASIO Driver. To install WaveDriver on these systems, first remove the ASIO Driver, then install the WaveDriver. If installing the ASIO Driver on a system which has the Digidesign WaveDriver, the ASIO Driver installer will remove WaveDriver functionality.

Note: The Digidesign WaveDriver does not support Avid Xpress DV or certain other DirectSound applications that require advanced DirectSound capabilities.

Notes:

• Digidesign recommends installing a separate sound card for third party soft-synths, games or multi-client audio work.

• This software is not included on the Pro Tools TDM 5.1.1 Windows CD.

• WaveDriver v1.7.1 is not compatible with the beta DAE and dalwdm.sys located in the 'Unsupported' folder on the Pro Tools v5.1.1 TDM CD-ROM. (see Unsupported DAE Win2K WaveDriver v1.7.2 below)

However, v1.7.2 should be used if and only if you have installed on your system the beta DAE and dalwdm.sys located in the 'Unsupported' folder on the Pro Tools v5.1.1 TDM for Windows 2000 CD-ROM.

WaveDriver v1.7.2 is not supported by Digidesign.

DigiMIDI.dll handles the kinds of things that OMS takes care of on the Macintosh. It should be installed along with Pro Tools in the appropriate place, which would be in the same directory as other Digi DLLs like DAE.dll
