The Elo Computer Modules (ECMs) for Windows slide into the back of the touchscreen display to deliver one of the industry's thinnest commercial grade all-in-one large format touchcomputers. AC power, video and USB signals pass between the computer module and the display making field installation and maintenance easy with no external cables. NOTE: Be sure to download the touch driver, as new controllers require the latest version.
Elo USB interfaced touchmonitors should respond to touch shortly after the USB connection is made (and the detection wizard has run, in some cases) even if the driver is not installed (touch response may be grossly misaligned, but there should be some sort of touch response). If no response, try the monitor on another computer system if possible. Also, connect other USB devices if possible, to verify basic system USB operation.
A common problem on many systems is that if a USB mouse has never been attached, one of the HID files (mouhid.sys) will be missing. Connecting a USB mouse should cause the file to be loaded (or you can copy the file from another computer -see below).
Using Windows Explorer, look in the windowssystem32drivers folder and make sure that the following files exist:
- hidclass.sys
- hidparse.sys
- hidusb.sys
- mouhid.sys
If any of the files are missing, copy them from another computer (be sure to put them in the windowssystem32drivers folder). Reboot, then remove and reinstall the touch drivers.
