Downloads A device driver is neccessary to use Hilscher's CIFX and COMX communication devices under Microsoft Windows operating system. The CIFX/netX device driver is a kernel-mode driver that runs in Ring 0 of the operating system and supports the Windows plug-and-play mechanisms.
Most operating systems require a device driver to integrate hardware components. Hilscher CIFX/COMX components require such device drivers as well. Hilscher offers a series of device drivers for a wide variety of operating systems. All Hilscher drivers have a standard user interface (CIFX-API) and are based on a C toolkit also usable for independent device driver development. The drivers are fully responsible for managing the communication components, including loading firmware and configuration files. The user interface contains all of the functions needed to initialize, parametrize, exchange I/0 data and acquire status information. Depending on the operating system, the user interface is contained in a DLL or library. As far as possible, the drivers support existing bus connections such as ISA, PCI, PCIe and dual-port memory connections. The C toolkit, and therefore the basis of the driver code, is designed in such a way that an unlimited number of communication components can be used simultaneously. However, the specific characteristics of each operating system must be taken into account.

The Hilscher Universal device driver was designed specifically for use with KEPServerEX and Hilscher Communications Interface (CIF) cards. KEPServerEX and the Hilscher Universal driver communicate through the Hilscher CIF cards to your DeviceNet or Profibus supported device, providing I/O and diagnostics information.
1 These S7A and ADS Versions require the so-called Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package. This Package is not part of the Zip File. You can download this package from the Microsoft Download Center. Just enter “Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) ” into your search engine. In most cases the first entry of your search result will direct you to the appropriate Microsoft site. It is mandatory to install this package before the S7A setup.exe is executed.
Note: The S7A and ADS driver on Windows Server 2012 R2 require the Service Pack 1 of the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package! The file version of the file vcredist_x86.exe has to be greater or equal to 9.0.30729.17!

2 The version 7.52 and 8.00 require a specific license code on the USB dongle. Licenses with version 7.16 to 7.51 can be upgraded to version 7.52 or 8.00. Please use our Support Request Form to request information on how to upgrade your old S7A license(s) to this new version.

3 The S7A version 8.00 does not any longer support the fieldbus protocols PROFIBUS and PROFINET! Instead please use the S7A version 7.53. This version supports PROFIBUS, PROFINET, DeviceNet, CC-Link and EtherCAT in conjunction with the Hilscher cifX fieldbus cards.
